CUHK Medical Centre (CUHKMC) has reached a strategic cooperation with The GBA Healthcare Group (GBAH Group) to establish the GBA Integrated Value-Based Care Partnership Ecosystem.

This initiative builds on the long-term Guangdong-Hong Kong medical alliance. CUHK Medical Centre will be the first partner hospital in Hong Kong.

The two parties will partner to offer healthcare services across borders, including general outpatient services in the Greater Bay Area, and specialised inpatient services in Hong Kong for people living in the Greater Bay Area.

CUHKMC CEO Dr Hong FUNG said: “We are delighted to form strategic partnership with GBAH Group, which has been deeply rooted in the Greater Bay Area for many years, promoting Hong Kong-style medical services to multiple cities in the Greater Bay Area through a public-private partnership model.”

At the same time, CUHKMC announced GBAH Group as its partner for value-based care insurance propositions.

The goal is to address healthcare service requirements for policyholders in Hong Kong by collaborating with insurance firms to develop comprehensive health insurance plans.

These plans will feature all-inclusive package fees, and will also include cross-border medical services.

GBAH Group co-CEO Dr Felix LEE said: “As the convener of the collaborative system, we carefully select clinics, hospitals, insurance companies, technology companies, and other medical-related institutions in the Greater Bay Area.

“Leveraging the advantages of general prevention and specialised treatment, we harness the dual protection of medical services and health insurance, providing trustworthy, affordable, and easily accessible medical services for residents in the Greater Bay Area.”

Healthcare industry continues to be highly vulnerable to cyberattacks

Cybersecurity is a growing market in the medical devices sector for several reasons. Medical devices often collect and contain vulnerable data, such as patient medical information. Legacy medical devices are a cause for concern because they likely were not designed with cyberattacks in mind. With the adoption of EHR systems, telemedicine measures, mobile health apps, and other connected devices, there is increased vulnerability to cyberattacks.
