DePaul Community Health Centers has reported improved revenue cycle management (RCM) and appointment scheduling with eClinicalWorks solutions.

By implementing eClinicalWorks' RCM solution, the health centre claims to have reduced its days in accounts receivable (AR) by more than 50%.

The RCM solution uses Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to automate routine tasks, enhancing operational efficiency and increasing annual revenue.

In addition, DePaul Community Health Centers adopted healow Open Access, an online appointment booking solution, allowing patients to schedule appointments online.

This tool offers patients flexibility in selecting appointment dates and times while enabling the health centre to customise provider availability and appointment types.

These improvements have combated administrative burnout and improved patient care at the health centre.

DePaul Community Health Centers has 95 providers across 12 centres in New Orleans, Louisiana, serving over 50,000 patients.

DePaul Community Health Centers executive vice-president and COO Frank Folino said: “The eClinicalWorks RCM solution does more than just streamline our revenue collections.

“It connects the front, mid, and back office for a single, connected workflow.

“For example, we configured an immunisation administrator setup to automate coding.

“This helps our front office track which patients are due for immunisations, helps providers track patient health data, and helps our back-end team accurately bill insurers for services.”

Is it time for the healthcare sector to fully embrace the benefits of digitalization and AI?

Primarily due to COVID-19, the healthcare sector has witnessed an acceleration in digital transformation, which has improved efficiencies and enhanced patient outcomes. AI can revolutionize the drug discovery process and significantly reduce the time and cost to get a drug to market, particularly in areas of unmet need. There is also huge potential for AI in medical diagnostics. However, using healthcare data for AI development raises data privacy concerns, thereby limiting its adoption.
