Australia's New South Wales (NSW) Government has unveiled the first look at the A$80m ($52m) Temora Hospital redevelopment project.

The government is seeking the Temora community’s feedback on the proposed design.

According to NSW Health Minister Ryan Park, the project will deliver a modern health facility and improve the local community’s access to healthcare services.

The proposed design includes perioperative facilities for surgery and procedures, ambulatory clinics, community and allied health services, pathology, and enhanced medical imaging services.

In addition, the redevelopment focuses on creating a supportive environment with light-filled spaces and views of the hospital gardens.

In addition to healthcare improvements, the design plans for better car parking and separate entries for emergency and service vehicles.

This redevelopment work will take place on the current hospital site.

Construction work related to this project is expected to commence next year.

Input from Murrumbidgee Local Health District, the Local Health Advisory Committee, clinicians, and residents have been integral to the design process, the NSW government said.

The community's feedback is now sought to refine the plans further.

Currently, the hospital concept design is on display at the Temora Council Foyer and Temora Health Service Reception. At the same time, people can also participate in an online survey to provide feedback until 4 March 2024.

The investment in this Temora Hospital project is part of the NSW government’s A$500m plan to boost rural and regional healthcare in the region.

Park added: “The redevelopment will deliver enhanced care in a contemporary setting to meet the needs of the local community now and into the future.

“The new Temora Hospital will continue to provide emergency department services and modern inpatient accommodation with beds available for medical, surgical, rehabilitation, palliative care and maternity patients.

“Temora Hospital’s key clinical services will be the focus of the redevelopment and will be continually prioritised throughout the design and planning stages.”

Recently, the NSW government revealed the schematic design for the A$200m Bathurst Hospital Redevelopment project.
