The UAE-based Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) has pledged to provide around AED15m ($4.08m) to the Al Jalila Foundation to support the development of a cancer care hospital.
The Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital is set to be Dubai's first fully fledged cancer care facility.
The investment is part of DIB's efforts to support community health and the advancement of medical infrastructure in the region.
The funds from DIB will enable an integrated cancer care model to be implemented at the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital.
Scheduled to open in 2026, the hospital aims to combine primary care with new cancer treatments, enabling earlier detection and intervention to improve patient outcomes.
The hospital will feature a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including specialised cancer nurses, to provide a comprehensive range of services.
From diagnosis through to treatment and supportive care, patients will have access to all necessary services in a single location.
Certain treatments and services will also be available for patients to receive at home, adding a layer of convenience and comfort.
In addition to treating patients, the hospital will focus on on-site research and clinical trials, aiming to advance patient care with new treatments and therapies based on evidence-based medicine.
DIB said that supporting the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital aligns with its commitment to Dubai Health's mission of enhancing patient care through a cohesive care model.
DIB Community Support Services head Nawaf Al Rayssi said: “We are proud to partner with Al Jalila Foundation to empower Dubai Health on this transformative project.
“DIB’s responsible investment in the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital is a testament to our unwavering commitment to the health and wellbeing of our community.
“This world-class facility will undoubtedly set a new benchmark for cancer care in the region and beyond, providing hope and advanced treatment options for countless individuals.”
