Mobile health service provider DocGo has announced the extension of a contract through its Ambulnz subsidiary to launch advanced medical transportation services in Chattanooga, Tennessee, US.

This extension underscores DocGo's capability to provide 'reliable' medical transport, crucial for hospital discharges and inter-facility transfers.

Ambulnz by DocGo will offer essential transportation services across the Chattanooga region, catering to the needs of rehabilitation, skilled nursing and acute care facilities.

The extended partnership in Tennessee is set to support around 17,000 trips a year, with ambitions to surpass 20,000 trips every year in 2025.

DocGo also aims to increase its service provision by an additional 5,000 trips within the state by 2026.

The company's growth in Tennessee, with a more than 25% increase in trips over the past year, reflects the rising demand for advanced medical transportation.

DocGo associate vice-president Nina Mothershed said: “Because of our collaboration in Nashville, we came to appreciate the need for advanced medical transportation for high-acuity patients in Chattanooga.

“This launch is a testament to the efficiency of our proprietary platform and the quality of our dedicated clinical staff. In addition to reinforcing our commitment to deliver high-quality and reliable transportation services that meet the needs of our partners and their patients, it positions us for further growth in Tennessee.”

By facilitating seamless patient transport, DocGo assists healthcare systems in enhancing bed management, coordination, reducing inefficiencies, and ultimately, improving patient outcomes.

The company secured five new contracts across various US markets in June 2024.

These agreements covered a range of services, including chronic care management, cardiac implantable electronic device monitoring, and a care gap closure programme for a national health plan.
