Encompass Health, a healthcare network based in the US, has launched a new inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Prosper, Texas.

The facility represents the 160th of its kind within the healthcare system and the 27th in the state of Texas.

This new 40-bed facility specialises in treating patients recovering from strokes, neurological disorders, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopaedic conditions.

The hospital provides 24-hour registered nursing care along with physical, occupational, and speech therapies.

Featuring private patient rooms, advanced rehabilitation technologies, a therapy courtyard, and more, the facility aims to restore functional ability and improve the quality of life for patients.

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Prosper CEO Daniel MacNicol said: “We are excited to open this new hospital in the greater Dallas area to help restore function, strength, hope and confidence to individuals recovering from major illnesses and injuries with the ultimate goal of helping them return to the community at their highest levels of independence.

“As the need for inpatient rehabilitation services continues to grow, we are honoured to serve as the trusted choice for rehabilitation in Prosper and beyond, allowing residents to receive superior, specialised care close to home.”

Currently, Encompass Health operates 160 rehabilitation hospitals across 37 US states and Puerto Rico.

In October, it opened the Rehabilitation Hospital of Columbus on Veterans Parkway in collaboration with Piedmont Healthcare in Georgia.

This marks Encompass Health's sixth site in Georgia.

The hospital, featuring 40 inpatient beds, specialises in serving individuals recovering from a range of illnesses and injuries, including strokes, neurological disorders, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopaedic conditions.

The aging population is a captive market for medical devices

With rising pressure on governments, payers, and manufacturers to reduce healthcare costs, innovative medical technologies have tremendous potential to improve elder care. Advancements in medical device technology have resulted in a significant increase in the number of conditions that can be managed in a home care setting. To capitalize on this strong demand and growth, manufacturers are increasingly producing consumer-targeted equipment.
