Encompass Health, an owner and operator of rehabilitation hospitals in the US, has unveiled its preliminary plans to construct a new inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Arizona, US. 

The proposed freestanding 60-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility will be located within The District at the Crystal Springs development, at the southwest corner of Avondale Boulevard and McDowell Road in Arizona’s Avondale. 

It will primarily cater to patients recovering from severe injuries and ailments, such as brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopaedic issues, as well as strokes and other neurological disorders. 

Patients at the new hospital will have access to 24-hour nursing care and a range of therapies, including physical, occupational, and speech therapies.  

This care will be provided by a team of specialised therapists, physicians and nurses.

Encompass Health’s new Arizona facility will also include private patient rooms and a spacious therapy gym, equipped with advanced rehabilitation technologies, and an activities of daily living suite.  

Additional amenities will include a dining room, pharmacy, and a therapy courtyard. 

Encompass Health West region president Kim Steward said: “We are excited to bring much-needed inpatient rehabilitation services to the Maricopa County. 

“The hospital will provide high-quality, compassionate, and individualised care close to home, helping patients regain the strength and function needed to return to the community at their highest level of independence.” 

The planned facility will be Encompass Health’s seventh hospital in the US state and will join the organisation's national rehabilitation hospitals’ network.  

Encompass Health’s national presence currently spans 161 hospitals across 37 US states and Puerto Rico. 

In May 2023, Encompass Health announced its plans to build a 50-bed freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Concord Township on Baltimore Pike of Concordville, Pennsylvania, US.
