The Ensign Group has announced the acquisition of Greater Southside Health and Rehabilitation, a 76-bed skilled nursing facility in Des Moines, Iowa, US.
Financial terms and other details of the transaction remain undisclosed.
The acquisition, which includes both the real estate and operations, was made through a subsidiary of Standard Bearer Healthcare REIT, Ensign's captive real estate company. It is effective as of 1 August 2024.
Apart from the Iowa facility, Ensign disclosed the acquisition of two other skilled nursing facilities in Denver, Colorado.
These include Holly Heights Care and Rehabilitation, which has a total of 133 beds, and City Park Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, with 125 beds.
One of these Denver facilities will be operated under a long-term, triple net lease, while the other has been purchased by Standard Bearer and will be leased to an Ensign-affiliated operator.
All these acquisitions, effective as of 1 August 2024, increase Ensign's growing portfolio to 315 healthcare operations, including 29 senior living operations, across 14 states.
Ensign subsidiaries, including Standard Bearer, now own 122 real estate assets.
Ensign CEO Barry Port said: “We are very excited to add to our recent growth in Colorado, a state in which we have established an outstanding clinical reputation over the last 15 years.
“This new team joins a strong cluster of outstanding operations and we expect great things in the future.”
The Ensign Group, the parent company of a group of subsidiaries, is known for investing in and providing a wide range of services including senior living, skilled nursing, and various rehabilitative and healthcare services.
With these new acquisitions, Ensign's independent operating subsidiaries now offer their services at healthcare facilities in states such as California, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Nevada, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.
In May this year, the Ensign Group acquired a mix of assisted living and nursing facilities across various US states.
