Essen Health Care has entered a strategic partnership with OwnaHealth to transform obesity and diabetes care for Medicaid and underserved populations.
The partnership also aims to enhance health outcomes for the patients of Essen Health Care in the Bronx and other underserved areas of New York City, US.
OwnaHealth founder and CEO Dr Mariela Glandt said: "Our partnership reflects a shared commitment to transforming lives, especially in underserved communities in the Bronx, by addressing diabetes and obesity with a personalised, evidence-based approach that truly works."
OwnaHealth has developed a clinically validated method for managing diabetes and obesity.
The company's approach is especially tailored to address the challenges faced by Medicaid populations that are often difficult to treat.
The collaboration will provide patients of Essen Health Care with access to OwnaHealth's bespoke clinical and lifestyle management programmes, which combine social, medical, and behavioural support to cater to complex healthcare needs.
Patients who join OwnaHealth's programme will be supported by a virtual team of doctors, nutritionists, and health coaches, who are available around the clock.
OwnaHealth employs a personalised, nutritional, ketosis-based strategy that has led to clinical improvements.
These include a 24% reduction in HbA1c levels for type II diabetes patients, substantial weight loss with many patients losing at least 15% of their body weight, and a marked decrease in the need for medication, with some patients even eliminating it entirely.
In addition, patients have experienced improved mental health, with a 35% reduction in depression scores and a 45% reduction in anxiety scores.
The programme has good engagement and retention rates, supported by AI-driven technology and engagement tools.
Essen Health Care founder and chief medical officer Dr Sumir Sahgal said: "Our partnership with OwnaHealth allows us to enhance our ability to address two of the most pressing chronic conditions, diabetes and obesity, by leveraging innovative, personalised care models that empower our patients to lead healthier lives."
