Evangelical Community Hospital, a healthcare facility situated in the US, has officially become a part of WellSpan Health, effective on July 8.

The transaction has been finalised after the fulfilment of all necessary regulatory requirements by both the mission-driven organisations.

A definitive agreement related to the affiliation of the two healthcare organisations was first announced in February.

As a result of the transaction, Evangelical Community Hospital has now been renamed ‘WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital’.

Besides, the care network associated with Evangelical Community Hospital will now provide primary, speciality, and acute care services in the Central Susquehanna Valley region, ensuring convenient access for local residents.

The affiliation further aligns Evangelical with WellSpan's comprehensive healthcare delivery system, encompassing eight hospitals, 2,000 employed providers, more than 21,000 team members, and 220 locations.

This also includes a behavioural health network and a Level 1 Trauma Center.

WellSpan Health president and CEO Roxanna Gapstur said: “The shared values and mission of the two organisations that have now become one align in ways that allow us to keep high-quality, community-based care at the forefront.

“On our journey to reimagine healthcare, we’re committed to innovative clinical care that works in concert with value and affordability to provide the best outcomes for our patients.”

Currently, WellSpan provides healthcare services to residents located across Frederick and Washington counties in Maryland as well as Lancaster, Adams, Lebanon, Cumberland, Franklin, and York counties in Pennsylvania.

WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital employs 1,900 individuals and has over 170 physicians, both employed and non-employed, who are licensed to provide a range of healthcare services for patients across its 131 beds.

It also offers various services in both inpatient and outpatient settings and caters to residents of Snyder, Northumberland, Union, and Lycoming counties.

WellSpan new North Region senior vice-president and WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital president Kendra Aucker said: “Our top priority has always been to preserve a vibrant healthcare system close to home. We are excited for this opportunity to share expertise, research, and resources in new and mutually beneficial ways.”
