Health Catalyst, a company that provides data and analytics technology for healthcare organisations, has closed the acquisition of Carevive Systems, an oncology-focused health technology company.

The financial details and other terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Founded in 2013, Carevive is a Boston, Massachusetts, based company with expertise in understanding and improving the cancer patient experience.

Carevive’s flagship platform and data are used by oncology providers and life science researchers to support routine clinical practice for a range of purposes, including post-treatment care, remote patient monitoring, treatment care planning, care coordination, and clinical trial screening.

The core of Carevive's platform is the proprietary Clinical Intelligence System, which is an algorithm-based engine that integrates electronic health record (EHR) data, evidence-based guidelines, and patient-reported outcomes (PROs) into a single comprehensive solution.

With a growing network of oncology providers and researchers, Carevive's bi-directional EHR integration is pivotal in routine clinical practice.

Carevive said that its platform supports various aspects of patient care, such as symptom management, care coordination, trial screening, and survivorship care while facilitating clinical trial screening and referrals.

The latest acquisition of Carevive will allow Health Catalyst to reinforce its capabilities in supporting care and process improvement within the oncology sector.

In addition, it will provide new insights into patient-reported outcomes and oncology registry data, furthering Health Catalyst’s efforts to promote measurable healthcare improvements.

Carevive CEO Bruno Lempernesse said: “This partnership embodies our shared commitment to advancing healthcare through the strategic utilisation of technology, data, and analytics within healthcare organisations.

“Central to Carevive’s mission is amplifying the patient’s voice in cancer care. By uniting with Health Catalyst, we are not just expanding our capabilities; we are also enhancing our ability to make a difference.

"With their expertise and solutions augmenting ours, Carevive is poised to deliver even more innovative solutions to cancer centres and provide researchers with unparalleled real-world data.”

Health Catalyst CEO Dan Burton added: “We are grateful to have the opportunity to work alongside Carevive, a team that is mission-aligned and deeply committed to leveraging data and analytics to improve patient care and outcomes in this space.”
