Digital health company Health for Mankind Company has launched a new digital diabetes management platform to transform diabetes care, particularly for historically underserved communities.
The DIABIMETRICS platform, which is currently available on Google Play and soon to be released on Apple's App Store, leverages advanced algorithms and real-time data to create personalised care plans.
DIABIMETRICS aims to address the disproportionately high diabetes rates among Hispanic, African American, and Native American populations.
All these groups, according to Health for Mankind Company, experience nearly twice the diabetes prevalence compared to white Americans, contributing to substantial annual diabetes-related healthcare costs in the US, which exceed $420bn.
The newly launched platform is crafted to be user-friendly, promoting easy integration with wearable devices and health applications.
In addition, DIABIMETRICS supports a comprehensive management approach that acknowledges the varied health profiles and cultural backgrounds of its users.
Key features of the platform include virtual coaching, glucose level and HbA1C monitoring, culturally appropriate dietary advice, medication adherence support, and remote patient monitoring.
Furthermore, the platform offers predictive analytics to identify individuals at risk of complications, enabling proactive health management.
DIABIMETRICS also facilitates data sharing with healthcare providers, assisting them in making informed decisions regarding patient care.
Health for Mankind Company founder and CEO Dr Uchenna Onyeachom said: “Our mission with DIABIMETRICS is to provide a comprehensive solution that meets the broad needs of the population while focusing on communities suffering from longstanding health disparities.
“This technology is meticulously crafted to enhance diabetes care quality for these individuals, empowering them to enjoy healthier, more active lives.”
The company said: “Our advanced algorithm will be capable of identifying individuals at high risk, enabling earlier intervention. Diabimetrics is more than a management tool; it represents a crucial stride towards equalising diabetes outcomes.
“Through this platform, healthcare providers can make data-driven decisions, potentially saving up to $7,900 per patient annually by reducing hospital visits and managing diabetes more effectively."
