US-based IMA Medical Group has launched a new primary care clinic in South Semoran, Orlando, Florida, US, marking its 22nd facility in the state.

This clinic offers medical services such as diagnostics and comprehensive care with advanced technology including X-rays, ultrasound, and a laboratory in one place.

IMA Medical Group chief medical officer Scott Sears said: “We are particularly excited about our in-house diagnostic facilities, including X-ray.

“Our vision was to create a healthcare facility that not only provides exceptional medical services but also offers a welcoming, comfortable, and social environment for our patients.”

The clinic is being led by regional medical director Dr Juan Carlos Escandon and medical director Dr Marisel Gutierrez, along with a team of physicians and healthcare professionals.

Together, they will create personalised care plans for each patient.

According to the medical group, the clinic facilitates inclusivity, especially for the Hispanic community, with bilingual providers and staff who can communicate in English and Spanish.

In addition to primary care services, the facility has introduced a new Diabetes Care Team in association with Stability Health. This team offers virtual support and guidance to diabetes patients.

IMA Medical Group chief nursing officer Sharon Nisbet said: “We are very excited to introduce our new IMA Diabetes Care Team to our patients who are living with diabetes.

“This innovative approach is set to redefine the landscape of diabetes care, empowering individuals with invaluable tools and resources to lead healthier lives as they learn to unlock the secrets of diabetes management.”

Patient consumerism is gaining momentum

Healthcare is evolving from a ‘doctor knows best’ mentality to a patient-doctor relationship where the patient takes an active role in making informed healthcare decisions. Patients can have more of a say in their healthcare decisions because they have access to information through various means, including the literature, the internet, and more recently, different types of connected medical devices. With the rise of mobile health applications, wearable technologies, and telemedicine, patients are well-situated to gain medical information, and ultimately make the best choices for their health.
