Isala hospital in The Netherlands and Royal Philips have announced the renewal of their strategic partnership, aimed at advancing the delivery of sustainable healthcare through cost-effective solutions.

The deal is set to enhance healthcare accessibility, availability and affordability by integrating advanced technology, data analytics, and artificial intelligence of Philips.

Under the renewed deal, the parties will focus on the radiology and cardiology departments, building on their initial partnership, which they entered in 2012.

Philips noted that the new five-year agreement includes an option for a five-year extension.

Isala will optimise processes and offer more patient-centred care by leveraging Philips' technology.

Isala Hospital director board member Jules de Vet said: “Our focus is on maintaining accessible, available, and affordable care in a cost-effective way; the right technology plays a crucial role in this.”

The two entities will work together to incorporate new technologies into hospital operations and improve products continuously based on real-world feedback.

As part of the new deal, Isala will also implement a flexible multi-year plan to replace medical systems, such as MRI and CT scanners, to ensure cost-effectiveness and sustainability.

The continuous updates provided by Philips will keep medical systems up-to-date, extending their lifespan and providing financial and environmental benefits.

Furthermore, Philips will supply key medical imaging systems along with support services for enhancing clinical adoption and streamlining processes.

Philips Benelux managing director Léon Kempeneers said: “Hospitals face significant financial and personnel challenges in the coming years, and there is no single solution to these challenges.

“Together with Isala, we will work on enhancing the clinical adoption of new technologies such as AI, simplifying and enhancing healthcare providers' work.”
