Kontakt.io, a healthcare RTLS and digital transformation company, has launched two mobile applications designed to enhance hospital operations.
The mobile apps help reduce response times to staff duress alerts and streamline equipment searches for patient care.
The Kio Staff Safe Alerts app enables security personnel to receive instant alerts and locate staff in real-time, while the Kio Nurse app assists caregivers in locating medical assets quickly.
The Kio Staff Safe Alerts app also provides instant notifications via the wearable Bluetooth low energy (BLE) staff badge.
This functionality allows for a quicker response to incidents by displaying the staff's location, movement, and identity, facilitating rapid deployment of assistance to defuse potentially dangerous situations.
The Kio Nurse app is a tool for caregivers and biomedical teams, offering a live map view to locate equipment efficiently.
By reducing the time spent on equipment searches, staff can allocate more time to patient care.
Additionally, the app promotes cost savings by enhancing equipment utilisation, thus reducing the need to purchase or rent extra devices.
Kontakt.io product innovation head and chief revenue officer Rom Eizenberg said: “Time means money and life in healthcare—not just in finding the right equipment at the right place and time, but also in terms of de-escalating staff duress so care teams feel safer and more supported to deliver patient care.
“With these new mobile applications, Kontakt.io is helping health systems solve their most persistent challenges related to asset management, staff safety, and compliance engagement.”
Furthermore, the Kio Nurse app employs BLE and infrared (IR) sensors to discreetly monitor handwashing practices, incorporating a gamified system that rewards staff for compliance, thus encouraging better hygiene practices.
Both mobile applications are complemented by web-based versions that provide detailed reporting and AI analytics.
They are integrated with Kontakt.io's AI-powered platform, which utilises GenAI to convert operational and clinical data into actionable insights throughout the patient's hospital journey.
This integration aims to assist health systems in optimising resource allocation, ultimately reducing waste and increasing capacity.
Earlier this year, Kontakt.io secured $47.5m in a Series C funding round to grow and expand its AI solutions.
