US-based healthcare provider Lee Health has partnered with 'virtual care' company KeyCare in an effort to offer urgent care services to patients.
Lee Health will use KeyCare's Epic-based platform to provide 24/7 virtual care through the MyChart patient portal.
The KeyCare platform facilitates smooth integration with the Epic health record system and can integrate seamlessly with Epic health records.
This allows virtualists and licensed providers to document visits, order medications and share information with the patient's care team within the Lee Memorial Health system.
Lee Health's shift to KeyCare from another nationwide telehealth provider is intended to optimise capacity, expand digital access and improve patient care within the system.
Lee Health vice-president William Carracino said: “Virtual care is revolutionising the healthcare landscape, transcending physical boundaries to deliver quality, accessible, and personalised healthcare experiences.
“It's not just a technological advancement, but a profound shift in how healthcare is delivered.
“Integrating a patient's electronic medical record (EMR) into virtual care settings is a game-changer.
“It empowers our healthcare providers with a comprehensive view of a patient's medical history, enabling them to make more informed decisions and provide tailored care.”

Lee Health is a non-profit, integrated healthcare services organisation that seeks to meet the needs of patients in south-west Florida.
The organisation has four acute care hospitals, two speciality hospitals, outpatient centres, walk-in medical centres, primary care and speciality physician practices, as well as other services.
