The Government of New South Wales (NSW) in Australia has selected Lipman for the third phase of redevelopment work at Wyong Hospital.

Lipman has been chosen as the builder for the hospital’s redevelopment project after a competitive tender process.

With this appointment, the building work at the hospital is now expected to commence in the upcoming months.

The third phase of the project will expand existing facilities and introduce new services, including a new medical workspace and an expanded NSW Pathology Lab.

It is part of A$200m ($130m) investment by the NSW government to enhance healthcare services in the Central Coast region.

Work under this phase mainly includes the expansion of Wyong Hospital's Cancer Day Unit, which will provide specialist cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy or other specialist consultations, closer to home for patients in the northern Central Coast.

This will further help in reducing patients’ overall travel distance by approximately 45km each way to Gosford Hospital.

The redevelopment work will also see the establishment of a new Wyong Women’s Centre Clinic, improving antenatal and postnatal care, which will feature an Early Pregnancy Assessment Service and a Day Assessment Unit, among other services.

Wyong Hospital will also get a new Nunyara Aboriginal Health Unit that will offer several services for the local Aboriginal community including antenatal, post-natal, GP and allied health clinics, as well as baby health checks and immunisations.

Additionally, the hospital will have a new Carer Support Unit, designed specifically to provide a comforting environment for carers, with amenities such as a lounge, quiet room, and a meeting room for group activities.

According to the NSW government, this will be the first time Wyong Hospital will have dedicated spaces for an Aboriginal Health Unit and a Carer Support Unit.

The commencement of third phase of work at Wyong Hospital builds on the completion of first and second phases in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

In November 2022, the NSW Government allocated A$13.6m funding for opening a 12-bed Palliative Care Unit at Wyong Hospital.
