India’s Manipal Hospitals has partnered with the British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO) and the British Training Academy (BTA) to launch the Indo-UK Paediatric Training Program.

This programme aims to provide quality training in the paediatric super speciality to young paediatricians in India.

The one-year post-graduation and super speciality training will take place at Manipal Hospitals, followed by a three-year opportunity for further skill refinement in various UK hospitals.

This programme involves Indo-UK faculty from Manipal Hospitals and BAPIO, led by Manipal Hospitals chairman Dr. H. Sudarshan Ballal, and BAPIO director Parag Singhal.

Dr. H. Sudarshan said: “This collaboration will provide an unprecedented opportunity for Paediatricians and Neonatologists in India to learn from global experts and enhance their skills in diagnosis and patient care.

“We are confident that this partnership and one-year training program will benefit many young doctors aspiring to hon their clinical skills.”

The alliance between Manipal Hospitals and BAPIO-BTA, associated with the NHS, supports medical staff recruitment and retention, and facilitates knowledge exchange through research and innovation.

Participants in the training programme will also receive a general medicine counsel licence to practice in the UK.

Parag Singhal said: “With this association, the focus of BAPIO and BTA is to provide the doctors of the Indian Subcontinent with unique opportunities to facilitate a two-way flow of knowledge and expertise between overseas colleagues and the NHS, thereby building strong Indo-UK relationships.

“We look forward to creating new avenues for academic collaboration, innovation, and clinical excellence, benefiting patients and healthcare professionals.”
