The MarinHealth Medical Center in Greenbrae, California, has launched a new hybrid operating room, a surgical suite that unifies traditional surgical tools with advanced imaging technology.

It leverages latest technology to deliver real-time images to facilitate intricate cardiovascular and vascular procedures.

MarinHealth's new hybrid operating room enables interventional specialists and surgeons at the Haynes Cardiovascular Institute to conduct both open surgeries and minimally invasive procedures in the same setting.

This simplifies intricate procedures, cutting down the requirement for multiple surgeries and hospital visits.

Besides, this allows hospital stays to become shorter and recoveries to speed up.

MarinHealth CEO David Klein said: “We are ahead of the curve when it comes to innovation.

“We are pushing the boundaries of medicine in ways that help to provide exceptional care and a better patient experience for patients right here in the North Bay.”

Hybrid operating rooms are commonly deployed to address various cardiovascular conditions, including valvular heart disease, structural and congenital heart issues, complex aortic aneurysms and dissections, coronary artery disease, and heart rhythm disorders.

These rooms are more suitable for managing traumatic injuries in orthopaedic and emergency care scenarios.

In a statement, Ramon Partida said: “The hybrid operating room is a breakthrough for our physicians and our patients who need complex and multidisciplinary interventions.

“It allows multiple interventional and surgical specialists to work alongside each other, performing percutaneous, minimally invasive endovascular and cardiac procedures in one state-of-the-art operating room.”
