Medicover Hospitals has expanded its footprint in India with the opening of a new 300-bed super specialty hospital in Hanamkonda, Warangal, Telangana.

The facility boasts seven operation theatres, an extensive Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a catheterisation laboratory (cath lab), and aims to provide comprehensive care in one location.

Medicover Hospitals (India) chairman and managing director Dr G Anil Krishna was quoted by Deccan Chronicle as saying, "We are proud to inaugurate the hospital in Warangal which is equipped with advanced medical technologies along with more than 40 highly qualified doctors. The hospital will cater for a wide range of specialties, bringing top-tier healthcare closer to the community."

The new hospital offers a variety of services including bariatrics, internal medicine, plastic surgery, physiotherapy, dermatology, nutrition and dietetics, endocrinology and metabolic disorders, ENT, nephrology, and urology. It also features a rehabilitation unit, a pharmacy, and an expansive lounge and waiting area for outpatient families.

The hospital was inaugurated by Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

In the previous month, Medicover had opened another 300-bed multispecialty facility in Bengaluru's Whitefield area, with an investment of Rs1.2bn. "In the next five years, the company plans to open four to five more hospitals in Bengaluru," Dr Krishna told The Hindu BusinessLine.

Last August, Medicover launched a Woman and Child facility in Hyderabad, offering emergency services, a cardiac theatre, ICU, neonatal radiology team, high-end ventilators and incubators, and prenatal and postnatal yoga sessions. Additionally, Dr Krishna shared with Economic Times the plans to open a non-specific facility in Vizag.

With 24 hospitals across 16 Indian cities, including metro and tier-II cities in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka, Medicover Hospitals (India) has been expanding its presence. The organisation employs over 14,000 individuals. Dr Krishna established MaxCure Hospitals in 2015, which was rebranded as Medicover Hospitals after Medicover Group acquired a 49% stake in 2017, and now holds a 64% share.

Medicover Hospitals operates internationally across 12 countries, including Germany, Sweden, and Poland, and is listed on the Swedish stock exchange.
