MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center and MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach have been awarded LAB-EEG Accreditation by ABRET, a non-profit credentialing board.
This five-year accreditation recognises excellence in electroencephalogram (EEG) testing, a critical diagnostic tool for brain disorders.
The EEG test is instrumental in diagnosing various brain disorders, including epilepsy, and is vital for monitoring brain function during surgery.
The LAB-EEG Accreditation signifies that the hospitals meet high standards for quality in neurodiagnostic testing and patient care.
These two facilities are among 18 out of 335 hospitals in California and among seven in the Los Angeles and Orange County area to achieve this distinction.
MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center and MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital chief operations officer Todd Blake said: “It is an honour to receive this accreditation from ABRET.
“This accreditation is a testament to the dedicated work our EEG lab technologists do every day, and I am proud that our two hospitals are among the few hospitals within California with the ABRET accreditation. This is the expectation we set for ourselves so we can be at our best for our patients when they need us most.”
Patients seeking reputable neurodiagnostic services can trust hospitals with LAB-EEG accreditation, which is claimed to ensure that EEGs conducted are of a quality that can be interpreted by physicians globally, enhancing the credibility of the data.
ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation is recognised internationally as the leading credentialing organisation for neurodiagnostic professionals.
Both Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach are part of MemorialCare, a not-for-profit integrated healthcare delivery system.
ABRET president Cheryl Plummer said: “ABRET’s LAB-EEG programme evaluates technical standards, lab policies and procedures, technologist credentialing and continued education, and the overall quality of the laboratory’s EEG test output.
“Successful accreditation means the EEG Laboratory has met strict standards and is to be recognized as a place where patients and physicians can have confidence in receiving quality EEG testing.”
