Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is set to implement the Expanse Electronic Patient Record (EPR), a cloud-based platform from MEDITECH, to consolidate patient health data in its 20 locations around London.

The integration of the existing ophthalmology clinical noting system, OpenEyes, with Expanse will support the creation of a single EPR system. Expanse will serve as the foundation.

With numerous clinicians working across various locations and patients frequently moving between facilities for treatment, the need for a seamless flow of information is critical.

The Expanse EPR will provide real-time access to patient data, ensuring the same view of a patient's health journey.

The integration will also improve organisational efficiency.

It will connect staff through a single shared system, encompassing roles from administrators to nurses, and departments from pharmacy to imaging, and inpatient services and accident & emergency (A&E).

The digitisation of A&E, pathology, radiology and pharmacy departments will also take place.

Spencer is responsible for the EPR programme at Moorfields.
