Greater New York Anesthesia Services (GNYAS), a new practice that commenced operations in New York City, is set to receive business services from an organisation formed through a partnership between Mount Sinai and US Anesthesia Partners (USAP).

The new practice, with the Mount Sinai Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine, will offer services to ambulatory surgery centres (ASCs) and select hospitals of Mount Sinai.

GNYAS president Dr Jonathan Gal said: “This new anaesthesia practice alliance will benefit the local community we serve by increasing patient access to high-quality, physician-led anaesthesia care, and by offering sustainable anaesthesia services solutions for hospitals, surgery centres, and private practices.”

The collaboration aims to combine academic excellence with national private practice business acumen, enhancing GNYAS's ability to deliver patient care.

The practice is currently operational at Peakpoint Midtown West and Peakpoint Flatiron ASCs, and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, with plans to expand and recruit additional clinicians soon.

This combined force of Mount Sinai and USAP offers support in two key areas: facility and practice management, and data and quality analytics.

The support organisation aims to alleviate the administrative and operational complexities faced by healthcare facilities and private practices, allowing them to focus on patient care.

In addition, the data and analytics support provided will enable GNYAS to implement evidence-based protocols and continuous process improvements, thereby enhancing perioperative efficiency.

USAP anaesthesiologist Dr Kurt Jones said: “GNYAS and the new business services team help remove some of that complexity by optimising recruiting, revenue cycle, and other clinical and business operations, allowing clinicians to spend time providing compassionate, high-calibre care, and fostering great patient outcomes.”

The alliance between Mount Sinai and USAP is set to deliver a sustainable, patient-centred anaesthesia solution that is tailored to meet the evolving demands of the healthcare sector.

By leveraging the clinical talent and business support expertise of its partners, GNYAS is positioned to offer reassurance and care to patients, clinicians, and facility administrators.
