Mount Sinai Health System and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) have extended their partnership until 2026.

This collaboration designates Mount Sinai as the Official Hospital, Health System, and Medical Services Provider of the US Open Tennis Championships.

Additionally, Mount Sinai will continue to serve as the Official Medical Services Provider for the US Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup Teams.

This partnership, which has been ongoing for 11 years, involves Mount Sinai offering medical care to elite athletes at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York during the US Open.

The 2023 US Open is scheduled from 28 August to 10 September.

US Open chief medical officer and US Billie Jean King Cup Team physician Dr Alexis Colvin, along with other specialists from Mount Sinai, will lead a team to provide medical services to athletes.

Dr Melissa Leber has been appointed as the director of Player Medical Services for the US Open by the USTA.

This alliance also includes various engagement activities, such as interactive booths, and meet-and-greet appearances by professional tennis players.

The Mount Sinai Health System operates multiple hospitals, outpatient practices, labs, and educational institutions.

The USTA is the governing body for tennis in the US and organises events like the US Open.

Dr Colvin said: “We are honoured to bring our multidisciplinary team of medical experts together to provide outstanding comprehensive health care for all of the athletes for the 11th consecutive year.

“I am proud to serve alongside Dr Leber in her new role. It speaks volumes about the importance of diversity and inclusion in professional sports to have two women leading medical care at an internationally recognised sporting event.

“Along with the entire medical team from Mount Sinai, we bring years of sports medicine expertise grounded in innovative research to the tournament.”
