India’s Mumbai Oncocare Centre (MOC) and Hemato Oncology Clinic-Vedanta (HOC) have announced the merger of their operations, creating a new entity known as MOC—HOC-Vedanta.

The latest strategic move is expected to broaden the scope of advanced cancer treatment availability across the Western Indian region, ETHealthworld.com reported.

The merger has led to the establishment of a significant consortium of cancer specialists, combining the expertise and team of a total of 40 medical oncologists, as well as haematologists.

This integrated team is poised to care for over 22,000 cancer patients and administer upwards of 60,000 chemotherapy treatments yearly.

The report added that the services will be offered through a network of 22 community cancer care centres in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat.  

MOC—HOC-Vedanta is not only enhancing the current healthcare landscape but also plans to extend its reach. The combined entity is looking to expand operations beyond its current geographical scope to deliver high-quality cancer care to patients throughout India.

During the merger process, HOC-Vedanta received critical advisory and legal counsel from Caltius Ventures based in Ahmedabad and JSA.

In addition, Mumbai's Affluence Advisors, as well as AZB, provided MOC with expert guidance and legal support, ensuring a smooth transition into the newly formed entity.

ETHealthworld.com quoted MOC medical oncologist promoter Dr Ashish Joshi as saying: “This merger is not just about adding beds; it's about building a powerhouse for cancer care across Western India. We will be standardising care across all our centres, ensuring every patient receives the highest quality, evidence-based treatment available.”

An HOC-Vedanta representative said: “Imagine large-scale clinical trials, exploring groundbreaking new therapies and maximising the potential of existing ones. This collaboration will be a game-changer for cancer care in India and beyond.”
