Australia's New South Wales (NSW) Government has announced an A$20m ($12.9m) investment in the construction of the new Batemans Bay Community Health facility.

The facility will be located on the existing Batemans Bay Hospital site, near the Medicare Urgent Care clinic and serve residents of Batemans Bay and surrounding areas.

The planning phase is about to be completed, with the Review of Environmental Factors currently open for public feedback.

A development timeline will be set after the conclusion of the tender process, with construction expected to commence next year.

Upon completion, the facility is designed to provide a range of acute and non-acute health services including allied health, child, and family services, as well as community mental health.

The project will feature consultation spaces, treatment areas, pathology, group rooms, and a gymnasium.

NSW Health Regional Health Minister Ryan Park said: “The new Batemans Bay Community Health facility will provide patients, families and carers with a modern, dedicated healthcare facility to support a range of community health needs.

“The release of the construction tender is a significant milestone for the project and, we’re grateful for the input provided by staff and stakeholders into the planning process for the project.

“We encourage the community to provide their final feedback on the plans while they are on public exhibition.”

The initiative will enhance the services provided under the new A$330m Eurobodalla Regional Hospital project.

NSW Legislative Assembly member Michael Holland said: "I'm delighted to see planning for the new Batemans Bay Community Health facility reach this significant milestone.

"The new health facility will work closely with Eurobodalla Regional Hospital, currently under construction, ensuring our community always has access to the right healthcare in the most appropriate setting."

In related news, the NSW government has announced the completion of Fairy Meadow’s new ambulance station as part of the A$232m Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration programme. The station will serve the Wollongong community.

The ambulance station includes indoor parking bays with a wash bay, administrative and office spaces, rest areas for staff, a gym, logistics and storage zones, as well as on-site parking facilities.

Additionally, the NSW government is funding the Deniliquin community in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District with an A$250,000 upgrade to their health facilities, funded by the state government.

This is part of a nearly A$12m investment in 61 projects under the Regional Health Minor Works Programme, which includes an A$250,000 allocation for Deniliquin Hospital to purchase two surgical suite pendants.
