Israeli startup Opmed.ai has raised $15m in a Series A funding round to enhance AI-driven optimisation in healthcare operations, reported CTech.

The funding round was led by NFX, Grove Ventures. Secret Chord Ventures, Sir Ronald Cohen, and Unbox Ventures also took part.

Opmed.ai plans to use the proceeds from the financing for expanding operations and advancing its development efforts, reported FinSMEs.

The company's advanced AI platform aims to revolutionise the efficiency of operating rooms (ORs) by running billions of permutations in seconds, generating alternative schedules that help enhance resource allocation.

The startup's co-founders, Dr Mor Brokman Meltzer, Avi Paz, and professor Baruch Barzel, lead a team of approximately 30 individuals, with 20 based in Israel and the remainder in the US.

Dr Meltzer, who is also the CEO of Opmed.ai, said: “This round marks a significant milestone in that it provides us with the ability to rapidly scale an innovative technology, which has demonstrated success since 2021 and meet the demand that we’re already seeing from hospitals across the US.

“Our mission is to support hospitals grappling with staff shortages and other critical issues by providing them a less labour-intensive, more effective way to perform at their best, and that’s exactly what this round will enable us to accomplish.”

Opmed.ai’s technology is already being used by healthcare centres and hospitals in both Israel and the US.

The platform also facilitates the creation of long-term block allocation plans, which can increase OR utilisation by 10%, leading to significant savings and increased revenue.

The company also has partnerships with health systems such as Mayo Clinic.

Grove Ventures general partner Renana Ashkenazi said: “Opmed.ai is a perfect representation of the next generation of great AI platforms. They solve a complex issue with a highly specialised vertical solution that has no alternative that comes close.”
