US-based software company Phunware has extended its five-year contract with VHC Health, a healthcare provider in Virginia, to provide its digital front door application and location-based services.
Available on iOS and Android, the app offers wayfinding for navigation, integration with MyChart for patient information, virtual appointments, parking location saving, and directories for accessing physician and service information.
Phunware programme management and customer success VP Cody Wimbish said: “The adoption of a native, mobile-centric digital front door signifies the forefront of innovation that healthcare providers must embrace to revolutionise their approach to patient care.

According to the vendor’s website, Phunware's platform enhances healthcare access by offering indoor and outdoor navigation through mobile, web, kiosks, and digital signage, leveraging smartphone capabilities and location-based technology.
It guides users from home to various hospital locations and allows hospital staff to update easily on the editor portal.
Additionally, the MyChart integration provides real-time patient information.
Phunware's mobile app seamlessly integrates with Electronic Health Records including Epic and Cerner to reduce the complexity of managing multiple solutions and enhance the digital front door experience.
