Rainbow Children's Hospital, a paediatric healthcare provider in India, has entered a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Health in Zanzibar, Tanzania.
The agreement, signed on 29 December 2023, is set to improve paediatric healthcare services in Zanzibar by providing specialised medical care to children in need.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU), which was formalised at the Ministry of Health office in Zanzibar, forms part of Rainbow Children’s Hospital’s efforts to extend its paediatric expertise beyond Indian borders.
Under the one-year contract, Rainbow Children’s Hospital will offer outpatient (OPD) services and conduct surgical camps in Zanzibar to meet the critical healthcare needs in the region.
It will also provide specialised care, particularly in paediatric cases.
The partnership is exclusive, making Rainbow Children's Hospital one of the select international paediatric facilities to collaborate with Zanzibar's Ministry of Health.
Rainbow Children's Hospital International Marketing General Manager Toshan Singh said: "We are honoured to be the sole paediatric hospital from India to join hands with the Ministry of Health in Zanzibar. This partnership reaffirms our commitment to extending quality healthcare beyond borders."
Rainbow Children's Hospital provides advanced paediatric care, offering tertiary and quaternary services such as complex cardiac surgeries, neurosurgeries, and organ transplants.
Last year, the East Africa branch of Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) installed MEDITECH’s Expanse electronic health record (EHR) system at its healthcare facilities in Tanzania and Kenya, as well as all outreach health clinics.
The Expanse system offers healthcare professionals access to comprehensive patient records by facilitating medical data management.
