Ramsay Health Care, a healthcare provider and private hospital operator, has opened a new A$145m ($94.35m) hospital, the Northern Private Hospital, situated in Victoria, Australia.
The hospital, which is now open from 5 February, is located within the Riverlee New Epping estate, around 18km from Melbourne’s Central Business District.
It is located adjacent to Northern Hospital Epping and the two facilities are connected by a link bridge, facilitating the seamless transfer of patients.
Northern Private Hospital features 70 patient beds, a cardiac catheterisation lab, four operating theatres, and a variety of units, such as a sleep study unit and a day chemotherapy unit.
It also houses on-site pharmacy, pathology, and medical imaging services.
The hospital offers a comprehensive range of specialities. These include general medicine, cardiac care, nephrology, ENT, orthopaedics, thoracic surgery, cancer care, gastroenterology, IVF and fertility, vascular care, urology, general surgery, respiratory and sleep services, and plastic and reconstructive surgery.
According to Ramsay Health Care, this hospital is Victoria’s first 'quiet hospital' and is equipped with advanced digital devices such as a communication system to enhance patient safety and care quality.
This communication system will help in reducing patient disruption and improving staff communication.
Northern Private Hospital CEO Shaune Gillespie said: “Our smart comms devices link a patient’s call button, monitors and other safety equipment directly to the nurses looking after them. They also allow our nurses to immediately and silently call for additional assistance.”
In an effort to alleviate the burden on local emergency departments and reduce patient wait times, Northern Private Hospital will also accept direct referrals from GPs.
Northern Private Hospital has achieved a four-star green rating, which is in line with Ramsay’s commitment to sustainability. It incorporates eco-friendly features such as cooling beams, solar panels, LED efficient lighting, and double-glazed windows.
