The A$165m ($109.5m) redevelopment of the Goulburn Hospital and Health Service in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, has been completed.

This project offers a modern, fit-for-purpose facility for 'high-quality' healthcare.

The redeveloped Goulburn Hospital houses a new emergency department, an intensive care unit, a medical imaging department, and the latest digital theatres. These facilities are set to service the regional population, addressing a range of healthcare needs.

Apart from the Clinical Services Building, the project includes the renovation of the original hospital, the transition of services to new spaces, and improvements to car parking and landscaping.

Patients will benefit from improved services in ambulatory outpatients, cancer care, aboriginal health, and pathology collections, all housed within upgraded, modern facilities.

The consolidation of the services from Bourke Street Health Service to the Goulburn Hospital Campus simplifies access to health services for the community. The new MRI service, launched by Minister for Regional Health Ryan Park last May, provides critical diagnostic imaging services closer to home, aiding in the diagnosis and management of various conditions, particularly in cancer care.

Commenting on the project, Minister for Regional Health Ryan Park stated: “The expanded range of health services now available at Goulburn means the hospital can provide a higher level of healthcare to patients when they need it most, improving health outcomes for the people of the region.”

He also highlighted the significance of the overhaul, stating that it marks the most notable enhancement in the 130-year history of Goulburn Hospital.
