The Ripley Satellite Hospital in Queensland, Australia is set to open its doors to patients on 30 August 2023.

Located in West Moreton, the hospital will offer a Minor Injury and Illness Clinic for urgent care, paediatric care, obstetrics, gynaecology, oral health, BreastScreen, and mental health services.

The facility opening was celebrated with a community open day attended by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, Health Minister Shannon Fentiman, and local MPs.

This hospital is said to be the part of the Palaszczuk Government's initiative to enhance public healthcare in rapidly growing areas of South East Queensland.

The facility will also go by the Aboriginal name Moodoombar Dabbil, which means place of good water.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said: “The Ripley Satellite Hospital will be a gamechanger for the growing Ipswich region by providing the health services families in this area need.

“It will also be a significant employment hub for frontline workers including doctors, nurses and allied health officers.

“Ripley is one of three satellite hospitals to open this month, which will take the pressure off our busy emergency departments.

“With more than 580,000 people presenting to Queensland emergency departments in the last quarter, these facilities will help our frontline workers focus on major emergencies.

The satellite hospital model aims to provide accessible healthcare services to the community, regardless of Medicare eligibility.
