India’s Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has inaugurated the Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC) Hospital in Najafgarh, Delhi, with an aim to provide affordable healthcare.

The opening of the training centre is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Health for All policy.

The Najafgarh facility is the fourth hospital of the central government's RHTC initiative and has 163 beds to serve patients in Najafgarh and 73 surrounding villages.

The hospital offers a wide range of medical services, including medicine, surgery, obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, ICU, NICU, PICU, ENT and ophthalmology, along with diagnostic and radiological facilities.

In addition, it provides specialised healthcare services such as mental health care, dental services and family medicine.

The facility's team of specialists includes paediatricians, ophthalmologists, gynaecologists and orthopaedic specialists.

The RHTC Hospital aims to offer Ayush services as part of India's integrated healthcare approach.

It also incorporates environmentally friendly features such as solar panels and water treatment facilities into its design.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that the combination of a skilled medical workforce, increased medicine accessibility through the PM Jan Aushadhi Yojana and the Ayushman Bharat initiative would make affordable healthcare accessible to underserved populations.

Dr Mandaviya said: “Today, we are witnessing the true spirit of our Honourable Prime Minister, whose wisdom has enabled provisioning of this world-class hospital as sanjeevani for the people of Najafgarh.

“Our government started working with a holistic approach and for the first time, our Prime Minister made the connection between health and development in the real sense.

“This was done in order for India to become a developed nation by the time we commemorate its 100th anniversary of independence.

“Today, even the most impoverished citizen has access to healthcare and no poor person should suffer due to lack of affordable healthcare.”
