Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center has joined forces with patient engagement solutions provider SONIFI Health to enhance clinical workflows.
Located in East Central Illinois, the hospital sought to improve patient education and involvement in care planning.
Through the implementation of an interactive television system in patient rooms, integrated with data from the Cerner EHR system, education videos from Emmi, and communications from the hospital, patients can access condition-specific education content easily.
Clinicians can auto-assign education directly from the EHR, and patient progress is tracked and charted back into Cerner for follow-up.
SBL organisational director Lorenzo Smith said: “We have an efficient and effective way to communicate with patients via the TV, without needing clinical intervention.
“Patients have access to all the care information they want most, as well as entertainment and relaxation content to help pass the time, which they enjoy.”
The integration of EHR and education onto a single platform streamlines workflows, allowing clinicians more time for direct patient care.
Empowering patients with dynamic education is expected to reduce readmission rates, and increase patient satisfaction.
SONIFI Health general manager Kelly Boyd said: “Their team is focusing on all the right things to improve patient care, and it’s been great to collaborate with them for ongoing enhancement plans like discharge checklists and feedback surveys.
“We’re excited to be part of helping Sarah Bush Lincoln achieve its goals for the hospital, patients, and the communities it serves.”
