US-based post-acute care provider Select Medical has partnered with health system CoxHealth to build and manage an inpatient rehabilitation hospital in south-west Missouri.
The facility is tentatively expected to open in the fourth quarter of next year, with its exact location due to be announced at a later date.
Select Medical will serve as the managing partner for the hospital. The company currently operates 107 critical illness recovery hospitals and 33 rehabilitation hospitals across various US states.
The partnership aims to consolidate the inpatient rehabilitation services currently provided by CoxHealth at the Meyer Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital in Missouri.
CoxHealth also offers these services at the acute rehabilitation unit at Cox Medical Center Branson with its Select Specialty Hospital – Springfield acute rehabilitation unit.
Select Medical specialty hospitals president Tom Mullin said: “As the demand for inpatient rehabilitative care continues to rise, we are pleased to partner with CoxHealth to serve needs of this growing patient population.
“Our shared commitment to deliver an exceptional patient experience will allow Missourians to have access to best-in-class care across full continuum so they may return to quality of life."
CoxHealth is a not-for-profit health system that operates six hospitals and more than 80 clinics, employing more than 13,000 staff across south-west Missouri.
CoxHealth Springfield Hospitals senior vice-president and president Ashley Casad said: “In partnering with Select Medical, we are joining forces with a leading post-acute care provider known for its clinical excellence, quality and outcomes.
“The new venture will bring additional expertise and an updated facility for patients we serve.
“Through this partnership, we can enhance the service to our patients, faster than either organisation can do on its own.”
In April last year, CoxHealth announced the opening of a clinic and urgent care facility in Springfield, Missouri.
