Select Medical to acquire rehabilitation facility in Oklahoma from Valir Health

Valir Rehabilitation Hospital is located in downtown Oklahoma City and has 50 inpatient rehabilitation beds.

US-based hospital network Select Medical has agreed to acquire Valir Rehabilitation Hospital in Oklahoma from Valir Health.

The financial terms and other details of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Valir Rehabilitation Hospital is a 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility that offers a wide range of personalised services such as neurological, multi-trauma and orthopaedic rehabilitation, as well as programmes for stroke, spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury recovery.

Select Medical currently operates Select Specialty Hospital and 29 Select Physical Therapy outpatient centres across Oklahoma, two of which are located in Oklahoma City.

Valir Rehabilitation Hospital's parent company, Valir Health, provides a wide range of healthcare services, including outpatient physical therapy, inpatient rehabilitation and hospice care.

Valir Health board chairman Jon Jiles said: “Select Medical's commitment to excellence in rehabilitation services aligns with the values that have been the cornerstone of Valir's success.

“We believe that this transition will enhance the care and resources available to our patients.

“We look forward to working closely with Select Medical to ensure a seamless transition building on the legacy of exceptional care at Valir Rehabilitation Hospital.”

Select Medical operates rehabilitation hospitals, occupational health centres, critical illness recovery hospitals and outpatient rehabilitation clinics across 46 US states and the District of Columbia.

As of 30 June 2024, the company managed 107 critical illness recovery hospitals, 1,925 outpatient rehabilitation clinics, 547 occupational health centres and nearly 33 rehabilitation hospitals across its network.
