Select Medical has revealed plans to establish a new rehabilitation hospital in Temple, Texas.
The proposed 40-plus bed facility is poised to enhance the region's healthcare infrastructure, with an anticipated opening in late Q1 2025.
This development is part of Select Medical's strategic expansion to meet the growing demand for inpatient rehabilitation services.
Once operational, the new 48,000ft² hospital will join Select Medical's extensive network of healthcare facilities.
Since 2011, Select Medical has been operating in partnership with Baylor Scott & White Health, managing four inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in Dallas, Fort-Worth, Frisco, and Lakeway, as well as a hospital unit in Irving and two neuro transitional centres in Dallas.
The company also independently runs Select Medical Rehabilitation Hospital in Denton.
Select Medical's presence in Central Texas is significant, with six inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, two critical illness recovery hospitals in Dallas and Plano, and 123 outpatient physical therapy centres.
Select Medical focuses on operating critical illness recovery hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, outpatient rehabilitation clinics, and occupational health centres.
As of 30 June 2024, the company's portfolio included 107 critical illness recovery hospitals across 29 US states, 33 rehabilitation hospitals in 13 states, 1,925 outpatient rehabilitation clinics in 39 states and the District of Columbia, and 547 occupational health centres in 41 states.
With operations in 46 states and the District of Columbia, Select Medical's expansion in Temple reflects its ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality rehabilitative care across the US.
Select Medical president Tom Mullin said: “The patient population in need of inpatient medical rehabilitation continues to grow exponentially in Texas.
“Opening a hospital in Temple further expands our ability to provide access to world-class care for patients recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and other neurological conditions throughout Central Texas.
"Texas now represents one of Select Medical’s largest markets offering a full post-acute continuum of care from critical illness recovery to inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation.”
