SHL Telemedicine launches network of cardiologists in the US

This network will offer ECG interpretations and telehealth services to B2B and D2C segments.

SHL TeleMedicine has set up a comprehensive network of cardiologists in the US to expand access to expert cardiology services through its SmartHeart Technology.

This network will offer ECG interpretations and telehealth services to business-to-business (B2B) and direct-to-consumer (D2C) segments.

While computer-interpreted ECG programmes can assist in reading ECGs, SHL claims to prioritise the value of expert cardiologist analysis and aims to provide it through their SmartHeart, a portable 12-lead ECG and cloud-based platform.

This SmartHeart technology is designed to reduce mortality rates, enhance quality of life, and alleviate the financial burden of cardiovascular disease, according to the SHL Telemedicine statement.

As part of this initiative, SHL partnered with HeartNexus, a team of board-certified cardiologists, to offer peer-to-peer consultations and on-demand telemedicine visits.

HeartNexus CEO Dr Robert Beto said: “In line with the guidelines set forth by the American College of Cardiology, it’s imperative that ECGs are interpreted by physicians with profound specialised training to ascertain the accuracy of any clinical diagnosis.

“We are elated to collaborate with SHL, extending our expertise to patients at home, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and busy physician practices utilising SmartHeart, thereby ensuring rapid, accurately interpreted ECG reports.”

Additionally, SHL is testing a D2C membership offering that provides access to their SmartHeart technology and cardiology reviews.

SHL Telemedicine CEO Erez Nachtomy said: “By drawing upon our rich heritage in telemedicine and ECG interpretation services, we have established this virtual network to furnish our customers and SmartHeart consumer members with unfettered access to board-certified cardiologists, anytime, anywhere.”

SHL Telemedicine develops personal telemedicine systems and provides medical call centre services, focusing on cardiovascular and related diseases for both end users and the healthcare community.

HeartNexus’s real-time remote access platform helps healthcare facilities and practitioners identify cardiac abnormalities early, resulting in time and cost savings and potentially saving lives.
