Sorocaba City Hall in Brazil has initiated construction on the Cidade da Saúde Municipal Hospital Complex in Jardim Betânia.

This complex, covering 27,000m² and requiring an investment of about R$120m ($23.79m), includes the Municipal General Hospital, a Polyclinic, and Health Surveillance.

The initial phase involves land preparation and the demolition of old structures, conducted by the company Reiscon Construtora e Terraplanagem.

The second phase involves building the Polyclinic, with a company selection notice already open.

Simultaneously, the Economic Research Institute Foundation (Fipe) is providing consultation for the third phase, addressing technical, environmental, and administrative aspects of the Municipal Hospital's construction.

The Municipal General Hospital will primarily cater to adult patients with low and medium-complexity cases.

Meanwhile, the Polyclinic will serve patients referred by the Vacancy Regulation Center for exams and medical specialities.

In addition, five new ambulances were delivered to the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) during the event, two of which were obtained through a parliamentary amendment by federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, and three were acquired with municipal funds.

Sorocaba City Hall Mayor Rodrigo Manga said: “This is a great action, which will provide the people of Sorocaba with dignified, more agile and high-quality service.

“We will continue with the services provided by our partners, through agreements, but we have no doubt that this Municipal Hospital Complex 'Cidade da Saúde' will make a historic revolution in the health of Sorocaba, eliminating queues for all procedures.”
