St Vincent's Health Australia has adopted MEDITECH's Expanse platform as the foundational electronic medical record (EMR) system for its ten private hospitals.
By using the Expanse platform, St Vincent's aims to improve patient care at the ten private hospitals, which are located across New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.
The system will unify patient records across these hospitals and provide a single EMR platform for them.
According to MEDITECH, its Expanse platform is designed to be an intuitive and interoperable EMR that facilitates care across various settings.
Expanse will be implemented through a scalable Cloud-based subscription model, MEDITECH as a Service (MaaS).
This model offers real-time, web-based navigation personalised to each care team member's workflow.
The implementation of Expanse is also expected to help healthcare professionals at St Vincent's access patient records, review results, enter orders and document care details on various mobile devices.
In addition, the secure platform will also integrate with St Vincent's existing cybersecurity programme.
MEDITECH Asia Pacific managing director Douglas Murray said: “We are honoured that St Vincent’s Private Hospitals has selected MEDITECH Expanse to meet their digital transformation goals now and in the future.
“We look forward to working in partnership to support them in their mission to innovate care delivery with our flexible and customisable MaaS solution.”
Founded in 1857 by the Sisters of Charity, St Vincent's Health Australia operates as a not-for-profit social enterprise.
It includes two major health networks in Melbourne and Sydney, ten private hospitals and 26 aged care facilities, as well as a diverse range of virtual and home care services.
St Vincent’s Private Hospital Division CEO Patricia O’Rourke said: “As advocates of patient-centered medicine, we are always looking at ways to improve care through use of technology.
“With this robust EMR foundation, we will be able to add even more advanced clinical functionality over time.”
