Texas Children's, a paediatric and women's health hospital in Houston, Texas, US, has opened its new $485m North Austin Campus.

This launch was marked by a ribbon-cutting event, held on 1 February.

The new campus will begin outpatient services from 5 February, followed by inpatient services from 20 February.

Spanning 365,000ft², the campus is situated at 9835 North Lake Creek Parkway in Austin and is set to provide advanced care for children and women in the area.

Expected to generate more than 1,100 jobs, the North Austin Campus will feature 150 paediatric specialists. This expansion marks the fourth campus for Texas Children's, with three others in the Greater Houston area.

The facility, encompassing a five-floor hospital and a 170,000ft² outpatient building under one roof, is designed for comprehensive patient care.

In addition, the 52-bed hospital will include specialised units for cardiovascular, neonatal, and paediatric intensive care, alongside operating rooms, a sleep centre, and full diagnostic services, including a foetal centre for advanced interventions.

The campus will also offer an emergency centre, behavioural health safe rooms, and multiple patient transport options, including ambulances and a helicopter service.

Located adjacent to the emergency centre is Texas Children's Urgent Care, which provides an alternative for families seeking care.

Amenities at the campus include an on-site pharmacy, chapel, cafeteria, coffee shop, and business centre.

The adjacent outpatient building will also connect to Texas Children's Pediatrics, offering a range of paediatric and wellness services, along with clinical subspecialties such as cardiology, allergy and immunology, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, and pulmonology.

Texas Children’s Hospital CEO Mark Wallace said: “It has been a longtime goal of mine to continue the incredible mission of our founders and expand access to Texas Children’s high-quality level of care to families throughout Texas.

“As we celebrate our 70th anniversary as an organisation, we are looking forward to serving even more children and women with one of the most elite clinical teams in the world.”

The campus is designed for future growth, allowing for additional outpatient and hospital buildings to be added.
