The OpenAI Startup Fund and Thrive Global have announced the launch of Thrive AI Health, a new company dedicated to developing an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered health coach.
Thrive AI Health will focus on democratising access to expert-level health coaching leveraging AI to improve health outcomes.
This approach will aid in tackling the growing challenge of chronic diseases through personalised behaviour change, focusing on five critical health behaviours: sleep, food, fitness, stress management, and connection.
Thrive AI Health will harness generative AI to offer hyper-personalised coaching that scales across these five key health behaviours, which are instrumental in determining health outcomes.
The AI health coach seeks to enhance overall wellbeing and will offer AI-driven insights, coaching, nudges, and recommendations tailored to individual needs while ensuring privacy and security measures.
It will be trained on the latest scientific research, biometric data, medical information, and user preferences related to the five daily behaviours.
The new company will utilise resources from Thrive Global and OpenAI including the former’s behaviour change methodology, Microsteps and content library.
It will also leverage advancements in AI, such as long-term memory capabilities and a specialised behavioural coaching model, to empower users to improve their health.
The OpenAI Startup Fund and Thrive Global are the lead investors of the company with additional investment from the Alice L. Walton Foundation.
DeCarlos Love, formerly a product leader at Google, will take the helm as CEO of Thrive AI Health.
Love said: “Thrive AI Health Coach is the product to solve the limitations of current AI and LLM-based solutions by providing personalised, proactive, and data-driven coaching across the five daily behaviours.
“This is how it will improve health outcomes, reduce healthcare costs and significantly impact chronic diseases worldwide.”
