Thumbay Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Hospital, a CARF-accredited rehabilitation facility in the UAE managed by Thumbay Group, has announced an expansion of its services focussing on advanced geriatric clinic.
It also includes the introduction of ozone therapy, chiropractic and osteopathic treatments, and a range of complementary and alternative therapies such as reflexology, acupuncture, and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), according to a press release posted on Zawya.
The upcoming facilities will feature a specialised rehabilitation store, an orthotic and prosthetic centre, multi-modal hyperbaric chambers, and a single-person hydrotherapy pool to accelerate recovery for patients dealing with surgeries or chronic conditions.
With the elderly population in the UAE projected to increase significantly, the hospital is enhancing accessibility to essential health services through specialised programmes.
Thumbay Healthcare vice president Akbar Moideen Thumbay said: “As we work towards our goal of doubling the insurance footfall across our network by December 2025, we are expanding our services to offer unique health solutions. Our Advanced Geriatric Clinic will prioritise the mobility and independence of elderly patients, utilising specialised therapies to manage chronic age-related conditions.
“Additionally, the introduction of Ozone Therapy and chiropractic treatments will provide alternative solutions for pain management and overall wellness, complementing our conventional medical approaches. We also aim to achieve a target of 7,500 outpatient visits across the network by September 2025, ensuring we effectively meet the evolving demands of our community.”
The geriatric clinic also features dedicated areas for mobility exercises and mandatory assessments by doctors and therapists.
The mandatory assessments will evaluate heart rate and chronic conditions to develop personalised plans for enhancing functional independence and mobility.
The clinic will also offer a dedicated pharmacy with a variety of braces and professional evaluations.
It focuses on managing conditions such as osteoporosis, arthritis, and heart disease through specialised exercise programmes, supporting recovery from strokes and surgeries, and enhancing cognitive function and lung health.
