The University of Miami Health System (UHealth) has joined forces with Aidoc, an artificial intelligence (AI) provider, to implement AI-powered diagnostic imaging and care coordination.
The collaboration aims to optimise physician workflows and accelerate patient care processes.
Through this alliance, UHealth will leverage Aidoc's AI technology and platform, featured with 13 FDA-cleared algorithms, to detect abnormalities in patient scans, especially in emergency situations.
Aidoc's AI system flags abnormalities, streamlining the triaging process and promoting collaboration among medical teams.
As per a press statement, UHealth has already implemented Aidoc's AI solutions, including algorithms for pulmonary embolism, incidental pulmonary embolism, and intracranial hemorrhage, across its facilities.
The partnership encompasses solutions for care coordination and post-treatment patient follow-up.
Currently, Aidoc is deploying more than 20 solutions within UHealth, addressing various medical conditions such as brain aneurysm, c-spine fracture, and brain vessel occlusion, covering both large and medium vessel occlusions.
University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Radiology chair Alexander McKinney said: “By combining our physician expertise with Aidoc's AI technology, our goal is to be able to provide even more timely and precise care to our patients, ultimately improving their overall healthcare experience. We intend to move AI up to the 'point of care' and even the 'point of scan'.”
Additionally, the Point-of-Care AI Deployment (POC-AID) initiative claims to enable UHealth teams to analyse imaging results within five minutes, providing real-time insights and improving the overall patient experience.
