United Medical and Oracle Health expand EHR alliance

The move is aimed at enhancing efficiency and integration and reducing administrative tasks for caregivers.

October 17 2023

Multi-speciality ambulatory network United Medical has extended its existing two-decade-long partnership with Oracle Health by a further seven years.

This network, which unites over 225 healthcare providers, will now implement Oracle Health's electronic health record (EHR) system at more outpatient surgery centres as well as accountable care organisations.

The aim is to enhance efficiency and integration and reduce administrative tasks for caregivers.

United Medical CEO and president Kemal Erkan said: “Our relationship with Oracle Health has allowed us to innovate and scale to new capabilities as demand for outpatient care is continuing to grow.

“This new strategic alignment will help create an easier path toward future growth opportunities as we ensure our practitioners have the latest and greatest technology to help improve their financial outcomes while remaining focused on top-tier patient care.”

The EHR system will streamline workflows and provide a unified platform for financial, IT, consulting, and support services, resulting in more coordinated and informed patient care.

This integration will enable authorised caregivers to manage patients' journeys through a central portal, improving documentation, follow-up, and patient adherence to health maintenance plans.

Oracle Health executive vice president and general manager Travis Dalton said: “Teaming with networks like United Medical can help drive organizational efficiency that makes it easier for clinicians and staff to focus on patient care.

“With intelligent technology, Oracle Health is helping providers reduce costs, decrease burnout, and improve patient experience.”

Founded in 2005, United Medical in Delaware and the Mid-Atlantic region serves over 27 specialities and 135 practices serving 325,000 patients.

AI will become a key driver of medical device innovation

With only a few approved drugs currently available to treat DN by means other than regulation of blood pressure, innovator products that can treat by targeting other factors such as treatment of dyslipidemia, hypertension, or angiotensin inhibition, among others, is a key area of R&D in the DN space and is likely to pave the way for novel therapies in the near future. However, the treatment landscape is expected to remain unchanged due to limited availability of products in the late-stage pipeline currently.
