University Hospitals (UH) in Cleveland, Ohio, has installed Aidoc's AI platform, aiOS, across its 13 hospitals and numerous outpatient facilities.

This move aims to enhance patient outcomes by offering quicker faster diagnosis and treatment for acute conditions such as aortic dissection, pulmonary embolism, vertebral compression fracture, and pneumothorax.

When CT scans are performed, the AI analyses the images and alerts physicians to both expected and unexpected findings, prioritising urgent cases.

This aims to ensure comprehensive reviews and improve collaboration among care teams, expediting the treatment process.

Aidoc said its AI platform offers UH several key benefits, including immediate access to critical patient data and the use of all 17 US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared AI algorithms for triage and care coordination.

The platform is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing systems, providing care teams with vital information to tackle urgent medical challenges.

It also addresses common AI implementation hurdles, including electronic health record compatibility and data management, to increase operational efficiency.

UH's adoption of AI follows its more small-scale applications of the technology.

UH Radiology chair Dr Donna Plecha said: “Aidoc’s AI technology assists our radiologists in evaluating various patient images, allowing our clinicians to access precise, actionable data quickly.

“The AI technology enables our care teams to be more accurate and efficient leading to even more exceptional care for our patients.”

Based in New York, Aidoc aims to help healthcare teams optimise patient treatment by improving economic value and clinical outcomes.

The company's AI solutions are currently used in more than 1,000 medical centres worldwide.

Aidoc CEO Elad Walach said: “We are thrilled to collaborate with University Hospitals to drive healthcare innovation through our AI solutions.

“UH is not only enhancing care coordination and streamlining workflows but also ensuring every patient receives the precise, timely and exceptional care they deserve.”
