UofL Health in the US is set to deploy Verato’s healthcare master data management (hMDM) solution for supporting accurate identity management across its complete enterprise.

The enterprise comprises eight hospitals, four medical centres, and around 200 physician practice locations.

More than 1,000 providers in Louisville and surrounding counties, including southern Indiana also form part of the enterprise.

With Verato’s hMDM solution, a unified view of patients can be maintained across several systems to support the digital transformation process.

UofL Health will also be able to create and maintain precise and complete patient information to support quality care.

The platform also enables a complete 360° view of consumers, patients, members, providers, and communities.

UofL Health IT Application Services AVP Darren Powell said: “UofL Health has undertaken massive projects to ensure visible, accurate data across the enterprise, but as we continue to grow, the need for high-quality identity data is critical to ensure a best-in-class experience for providers and patients.

“I’m thrilled we’re partnering with Verato to leverage their hMDM platform to ensure our teams have access to the right information from the right patient to make accurate, informed care decisions for our patients.”

UofL Health is looking to establish an accurate patient identity foundation as it continues to scale and migrate disparate data sources into one source of truth.

Verato CEO Clay Ritchey said: “We are proud to partner with UofL Health to support their critical needs of executing a comprehensive identity data management strategy to support their growing patient population and increasingly complex data ecosystem.

“With curated reference data, we can confidently match and master patient information from various data sources and with varying degrees of richness to inform a single source of truth for healthcare organisations.”

Why are healthcare companies hesitant to invest in the metaverse?

Although metaverse technologies could reinvent healthcare approaches and bring new experiences to healthcare providers and patients, adoption is still at an early stage. There are currently few use cases in the healthcare industry. The metaverse needs to overcome major challenges for healthcare, including regulation and data privacy concerns.

Healthcare industry continues to be highly vulnerable to cyberattacks

Cybersecurity is a growing market in the medical devices sector for several reasons. Medical devices often collect and contain vulnerable data, such as patient medical information. Legacy medical devices are a cause for concern because they likely were not designed with cyberattacks in mind. With the adoption of EHR systems, telemedicine measures, mobile health apps, and other connected devices, there is increased vulnerability to cyberattacks.
