The University of Vermont Health Network has reached an enterprise-wide agreement with Abridge, a provider of generative AI for clinical documentation.

This partnership aims to enhance the efficiency of clinical documentation across the health network, which serves over one million patients in Vermont and northern New York.

For the past four months, clinicians at UVM Health Network have been utilising Abridge's generative AI solution. The technology is set to be expanded to various specialties, including cardiology and endocrinology.

The AI clinical platform has been reported to significantly improve clinicians' professional fulfillment by 53%, decrease the time spent on documenting patient encounters by 60%, and lower cognitive load by 51%.

Abridge CEO and founder Dr. Shiv Rao welcomed the partnership, stating: "We are thrilled that Abridge was chosen by UVM Health Network on the basis of the quality of our notes. Notes are critical in every aspect of healthcare. Abridge generates notes that clinicians can share with their colleagues, their patients, and their administrators."

Echoing the positive impact of the AI solution, UVM Health Network Medical Group CEO and President Dr. Jason Sanders said: "Abridge has delivered spectacular results for our physicians and improved the patient experience." He highlighted the superior quality of AI-generated note drafts as a key factor in the decision made by the Digital and Remote Health Committee for ambient documentation.

The use of Abridge at UVM Health Network follows implementations at other major health systems, including UChicago Medicine, Sutter Health, and Yale New Haven Health System.

Additionally, in February this year, Abridge secured $150m in Series C investment.
