US-based chronic care company ViuHealth has partnered with The Leaders Rheum in an effort to enhance rheumatology care.

The companies aim to introduce a digital dimension to patient care by using ViuHealth's virtual care solution, which works alongside rheumatologists to improve the daily management of autoimmune conditions.

By combining ViuHealth's chronic care management knowledge with The Leaders Rheum's approach to rheumatology, the partnership is expected to improve the treatment and management of autoimmune diseases.

ViuHealth CEO Kwaku Owusu said: “ViuHealth is dedicated to providing patients with the virtual care team, technology, and resources necessary to live a healthier life.

“Our collaboration with The Leaders Rheum signifies a transformative moment in the field of rheumatology care, offering patients and providers a comprehensive and innovative approach to managing autoimmune conditions like never before.”

ViuHealth is a virtual care solution that partners with rheumatologists and other autoimmune specialists to help patients better manage their day-to-day conditions.

Using the virtual care solution, patients can receive direct access to a dedicated care team that includes nurse practitioners, registered nurses and certified health coaches.

The team is supported by an 'intuitive' mobile app designed to help patients live healthier lives.

ViuHealth's platform can expand the range of virtual care offerings available to physicians, with the aim of improving patient outcomes and opening new reimbursement opportunities to increase practice revenue.

The Leaders Rheum's model is designed to elevate independent rheumatology practices and improve their financial health while 'revolutionising' patient care.

The Leaders Rheum CEO and co-founder Ray Waldrup said: “The Leaders Rheum is thrilled to announce the collaboration with ViuHealth.

“They know the rheumatology space as well as we do and have a deep understanding of how to address and care for autoimmune patients in private practice.

“This partnership brings significant value, expertise and insights that are extremely beneficial for rheumatology providers and patients.”

Healthcare industry continues to be highly vulnerable to cyberattacks

Cybersecurity is a growing market in the medical devices sector for several reasons. Medical devices often collect and contain vulnerable data, such as patient medical information. Legacy medical devices are a cause for concern because they likely were not designed with cyberattacks in mind. With the adoption of EHR systems, telemedicine measures, mobile health apps, and other connected devices, there is increased vulnerability to cyberattacks.
