Healthcare payments platform provider Waystar has purchased HealthPay24, a patient engagement and payment solution developed by EngageSmart.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

HealthPay24 is claimed to allow health systems, physician groups, and medical billers to boost customer self-service opportunities.

The deal brings the 2,000 healthcare provider locations of HealthPay24 and their 26 million patients to Waystar’s fold, which already includes over one million providers.

It marks Waystar’s eighth purchase since 2018, with eSolutions, Recondo, and Patientco among its previous acquisitions. 

Waystar CEO Matt Hawkins said: “The patient financial experience should be frictionless, so patients can seek the care they need and providers can get paid for their services.

HealthPay24 can accept digital payments, as well as payments made through debit and credit cards, ACH, and wire transfers.

The solution is rated with a patient satisfaction score of 96% and a net promoter score of around 60.
